Vulnerable Families Programme
Sixteen young people the centres alone could not reach.
Some children need more than a place to come in the day. The programme supports them with education, housing, clothing and food until they finish their education or can support themselves.
Who the programme is for
Orphans
Children who have lost both parents and are living with relatives who cannot meet the cost of keeping them in school.
Single-parent families
Households where one parent is raising children on a single agricultural wage, where a school fee or a uniform is the thing that breaks the month.
Children with disabilities
Children who need equipment, treatment or transport that the family cannot arrange alone, and who are otherwise kept at home.
What support looks like
- A girl in her final school yearBoth parents died. The trust pays her fees and boarding so that she can finish, rather than leaving at fifteen for field work.
- Two brothers, one parentTheir mother works as a daily wage labourer. The trust covers school costs, clothing and a food supplement so that neither boy is withdrawn to earn.
- A child with a mobility impairmentTransport to school and back, and the equipment he needs to use the classroom, which is the difference between attending and not.
These summaries are deliberately general. We do not publish the names, photographs or circumstances of the children in this programme.
